of Forestry Department is linked with
the history of Department of Soil Conservation
and Water management, which goes back
to early sixties when there, was an expansion of Soil Conservation activities in the state. The
Govt. of Uttar Pradesh established department
of Soil Conservation at the Govt. Agriculture
College, Kanpur, from July 1963. Forestry
is one of the main components in M.Sc.
(Ag.) degree course of Soil Conservation & Water Management. This department has many achievements to its credit and enjoys
the distinction in formulating and implementation
of soil conservation projects by various
afforestation techniques along with other
components of project like soil conservation
survey, soil conservation agronomy and
soil & water conservation engineering. Now to cope up the detailed need of forestry
a separate department of Forestry was
felt and thus this department was established
in 2002 .
