Family Resource Management

A significant milestone in the growth and development of the Community Science Education Programme at C.S.A.U.&T., Kanpur was the introduction of the four-year B.Sc. (Community Science) degree programme. The Department of Family Resource Management (FRM) was established in 2002. In the same year, the college introduced the 2+2 years B.Sc. (Hons.) programme to strengthen its elective courses.

The Master’s degree programme in Family Resource Management was initiated in 1997–98, followed by the Doctoral programme in 2003–04. At present, the department runs the undergraduate programme based on the recommendations of the ICAR V Deans’ Committee and the postgraduate programme based on the ICAR National Core Group recommendations. The current intake capacity at the postgraduate level is three students.

In order to fulfill its stated vision , mission the department of Family Resource Management (FRM) is committed to :
To impart skill and knowledge of financial management and consumer education.
To inculcate awareness about the ergonomic principles in relation to household, equipment and occupation.
To prepare students to assist in resource generation and allocation.
To develop entrepreneurial skills in students.
To inculcate a sense of civic responsibility, social commitment and moral accountability among the students through social activities.
