The
Department of Biotechnology is one
of the nascent and smallest Department
established in December, 2003 with
an objective to impart and promote
education in Biotechnology and to
initiate researches applicable to
agriculture. Soon after in July,
2004 a four semester teaching programme
leading to the award of M.Sc. (Ag) degree in Biotechnology was started. So far one batch
of eight students has been awarded
M.Sc. (Ag) degree in Biotechnology.
The University has a MoU with IIPR,

-
The
Department is running PG programme
leading to the award of M.Sc.
(Ag) degree in Biotechnology.
-
Every
year 8-10 students are admitted
in M.Sc (Ag) Biotechnology
programme through combined
entrance examination, one or
two ICAR nominee also joins
this course every year.
-
Department
offers a 55 credit course curricula
as suggested by Dean’s Committee, constituted by ICAR the purpose.
-
Teaching
is conducted by the teachers
of various departments of the
university, contractual teachers
and guest faculty from other
Institutions.
-
M.Sc.
(Ag) Biotechnology students
are required to conduct research & submit thesis in the partial fulfillment of the award of degree. Thesis carries
15-credit weightage.
-
So
far one batch of eight students
has been awarded M.Sc. (Ag)
degree in biotechnology. At
present eight students including
one ICAR nominated student
in second semester and six
students in IV semester are
enrolled for the M.Sc. (Ag.)
programme.
