Prof. Ashok Kumar, born in 1951 at Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, had his early school education at Mirzapur, Varanasi and at Allahabad. Prof. Ashok Kumar got his Master’s Degree from University of Allahabad in 1969 and Doctorate Degree (PhD) from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur in 1973. |

Prof. Kumar served as Assistant Professor in Allahabad University (1969), Rajasthan University (1972-75), H.P. University, Shimla (1975-1985) and as Associate Professor at Lucknow University (1985).In 1985 Dr. Kumar joined University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, again as Associate Professor. He became Professor in 2001. |

Prof. Kumar served the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India, in various administrative capacity as Director, UGC-Academic Staff College, Hony. Director, PG School of Life Sciences, Coordinator of Centre of Advanced Studies in Zoology, Coordinator of Microbiology and as Head of the Department of Zoology. |

Dr. Kumar is/was actively engaged in research and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is very well known scientist in the field of Radiation and Cancer Biology. His work has been recognized both at National and International level. |

Prof. Kumar was awarded Junior Research Fellowship, CSIR, New Delhi, India, 1969-70.Awarded Research Fellowship, NIH, USA (Project), 1970-72.He was awarded National Associate ship (University Grants Commission, New Delhi) for 5 years, 1975-1982. He is the first recipient of Young Scientist Award by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India 1988, for his original contribution in the field of Radiation Biology. He was awarded Senior Scientist award by Association of Radiation Research, United Kingdom, 2003. In Japan 2003 he was awarded Kadota Award for his work on anticancer herbal drugs. In recognition of research Dr. Kumar was awarded Research Excellence Award, on 26th January 2009, by the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. |

Dr Kumar is the recipient of Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship, Germany (1982, 83, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2001, and 2002) and Japanese Post Doctoral fellowship (1979, 1981). He is visiting scientist at Shiga Medical University, Shiga, Japan, (1987, 1992, 1994, 1997, 2003, and 2007). |

In 2010 Prof. Kumar was invited at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan as a Visiting International Professor from April 2010 to June 2010. |

Dr. Kumar successfully guided several M. Phil (7) and PhD students (33). He has published more than 100 research publications in National and International Journals. He has published research papers in collaborations with American, German, Japanese, Korean and scientists from England. He is member of several National and International Societies. He is also reviewer of several National/International Journals. He is also external examiner for the evaluation of Ph.D. thesis of foreign universities: Mauritius University, Malaysia, South Africa. |

Dr. Ashok Kumar has participated/delivered lectures/chaired sessions at various National and International conferences/symposium etc: Australia, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Iran, Japan, Korea, Mauritius, Netherlands, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand and USA to name a few. |

Prof Kumar had several International Collaborative Research Projects. He was awarded Indo German Research Project 2000-2002 (DST-DAAD), Lotte Pharmaceutical Research & Development, Seoul, Korea, Canopus Biopharma, Ireland, USA, Indo Japan Research Project 20!0-2012(DSTJSPS), Indo –Mauritius( CV Raman Fellow Award to work with Prof. Kumar). |

Prof. Kumar is associated with various academic activities of Public service commission’s of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and M.P. and also with Union Public Service Commission, University Grants Commission, Department of Science & Technology and various Indian Universities etc. |

At present Prof. Kumar is actively involved in finding new phytochemicals for Anticancer and Radiation Protection. |
