Dr. L.P. Tiwari Professor/ Wheat Breeder has taken over as Director Agricultural Experiment Station of C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur on January 13, 2011, born on November 01, 1951 at village Neema, Pratapgarh, (Uttar Pradesh), He did his graduation in Agriculture and post graduation in Plant Breeding & Genetics from U.P. Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Kanpur and Ph.D. in Plant Breeding & Genetics. He started his career as a Junior Scientist from 1971 later as Plant Breeder and worked in crops ie Medicinal & ornamental plants, cotton and wheat Barley. Dr. Tiwari joined as Professor in the section of Rabi Cereal in 2004 at this university and succeeded as Professor/ Wheat Breeder. Dr. Tiwari assigned the additional task to serve as Zonal-Coordinator North Eastern Plains Zone. His research, teaching and extension experience is more than 40 years in which he make outstanding contribution for development a dozen of wheat varieties viz. K-9644 (Atal), K-7903 (Halna), K-8434 (Prasad), K-9423 (Unnat Halna), K-0307 (Satabadi), KD-9851 (Sona Kathia) K-0402 (Mahi), and K-0424 (Gold Halna), K-9533 (Naina), K-9351 (Mandakani) which have national importance under climatic change and are playing major role in enhancing wheat production at State and Country as well. He has also developed 350 advanced lines of wheat for different agro-climatic conditions, short duration and terminal heat tolerance. He guided 9 Students of Ph.D. and 7 students of M.Sc. Ag in Plant Breeding & Genetics. He published 65 research paper in reputed journals.

Dr. Tiwari has visited Mexico (CIMMYT) as visiting Scientist during 2008 and selected the materials against UG99. He got twice Momento Award of ICAR 2000 for releasing variety K-9644, and K-0307 (Satabadi) in 2006.
